These are two beautifully captured films based on two poets' lives; one old-fashioned, one modern.
Extract from 'Ode To Fanny':
'Ah! dearest love, sweet home of all my fears,
And hopes, and joys, and panting miseries, -
To-night, if I may guess, thy beauty wears
A smile of such delight,
As brilliant and as bright,
As when with ravished, aching, vassal eyes,
Lost in soft amaze,
I gaze, I gaze!'
- John Keats
Extract from 'Deaths and Entrances':
'On almost the incendiary eve
When at your lips and keys,
Locking, unlocking, the murdered strangers weave,
One who is most unknown,
Your polestar neighbour, sun of another street,
Will dive up to his tears.
He'll bathe his raining blood in the male sea
Who strode for your own dead
And wind his globe out of your water thread
And load the throats of shells
with every cry since light
Flashed first across his thunderclapping eyes.'
- Dylan Thomas
My parents were inspired by the movie 'Doctor Zhivago', to name me Lara, as it has a very similar storyline to the romance between my parents. My brother is also called Omar, after the actor Omar Sharif who played Dr Zhivago in the 1960s version.
Keira Knightley playing Lara in the recent adaptation, which I was given for christmas. (She was only 16 when they filmed it!)
Lara Stone: Voted as girl AND model of the year for 2009. (She is actually blonde, but this photo is very Natalie Portman)
PostSecret is a genius concept. It's always so fascinating to read these. I think sometime in the future I will do something inspired by them, like an art project of sorts. So many at the back of my mind...
Dreamy photography. I can never get enough. I really really really want a polaroid/holga camera now... anything that could create such magic as these! Forget crisp colours and lines off a pro camera.. embrace soft light leaks, beautiful blurry colour filters, and unexpected wonders.
